Last
September 25th I had the opportunity of being backstage at Pierre Hotel
in NYC for the second luncheon of the year of the first ladies Fashion4Development,
a really interesting experience. The
main purpose of this organization is to support sustainable fashion that is
produce in a responsible way, that means have better work conditions and the
total use of the resources.
The hostess was
the United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon wife´s the first lady Ban
Soon-taek, during the event the Vogue Italian editor Franca Sozzani was
recognized for the labor that she had been doing for the organization in Africa
(you can see part of her work at the Italian Vogue L´Uomo Africa issue) receiving
the WF4D’s 2012 Fashion & Humanity Award.
The ceremony was divided in two parts, in the
first one four African designers like Edun and Angelo Lambrou presented their
collections, representing the efforts that Fashion4Development have done in that country, the second part was the
turn for four Indonesians designers, the reason was because now the
organization is going to support this country in order to create better work
conditions.
